WHAT
HEARING AID
IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Stay connected to the ones you love with a hearing aid that fits your lifestyle. Hearing aids are available in a variety of types and styles. Every hearing aid is slightly different in what they can do for you, so “the best” hearing aid for you will depend on the results of your hearing test and your lifestyle. If a hearing aid isn’t strong enough or doesn’t treat the type of hearing loss you have, it just won’t work the way you expect and need it to. This is why we start your consultation with a hearing test.

HEARINGS AIDS.  SO MANY CHOICES.

The severity of your hearing loss, the shape of your ear as well as your listening needs are important factors to consider when choosing hearing aids.

BEHIND-THE-EAR

HEARING AIDS

A classic style hearing aid, the  behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid goes over the top of your ear and has an ear mold with tubing that inserts into the ear canal

IN-THE-EAR

HEARING AIDS

Another classic style hearing aid, the in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aid is available in various sizes, such as full shell, half shell, and canal sizes.  These instruments offer an optional volume control wheel for the user to adjust accordingly and a push-button for program changing or T-coil (telephone program),  space permitting.  They also generally use larger size batteries.  Another option often requested is an auto T-coil.

COMPLETELY-IN-CANAL

HEARING AIDS

The smallest of custom hearing aids.  These instruments are generally not visible to others. They are deep-fitting instruments that utilize a tiny battery.

RECEIVER-IN-CANAL

HEARING AIDS

The most popular instrument in the industry today.  These very small instruments sit inconspicuously behind the ear connecting to a nearly invisible, very thin coiled wire and receiver (speaker), which sits comfortably in the ear canal.

IMPLANTABLE

HEARING AIDS

These hearing aids are worn without removal for extended periods of time.  They are carefully implanted into the ear canal allowing the user to sleep with, shower with, and even swim with.  Medical screening is required to be a candidate for this type of hearing aid.  The benefit of these instruments is they are not visible to others.

ARE HEARING AIDS COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Each health insurance company has a different policy regarding reimbursement or payment for hearing aids.  Sometimes it’s not the insurance plan that will pay for services, treatments, procedures, and/or devices but the union of an employee or former employee.  Sometimes there is an allowance towards the purchase of hearing aids.

The best way to know for sure is to call your insurance plan or union and ask if there is a hearing aid benefit.

At  Acoustic Hearing Center we can help you check your hearing aid coverage with your insurance company prior to your appointment.
